Project Development Engineer - CEM

I. Position Summary:

Partners with the direct sales and service teams to complete customer system discovery and scoping assessments to generate summary reports identifying customer steam system and thermal energy improvement opportunities in safety, efficiency, and energy savings. Supports the development of project costing reports that deliver defined ROI’s. Manages all facets of assigned Energy Services Group Assessment projects.

II. Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Performs complete customer system discovery and scoping assessments and generates summary reports identifying customer steam system and thermal energy improvement opportunities in safety, efficiency, and energy savings along with implementation costing resulting in defined ROI’s.
  • Analyzes customer's technical requirements and problems or applications and makes technical recommendations.
  • Provides technical information to the sales and marketing departments and field sales personnel.
  • Reviews customer specifications and applications to develop solutions and prepare quotations, with high, differentiated value to the customer.
  • Reviews technical bid requirements and generates assessment project proposals.
  • Accompanies the sales force personnel to promote and secure ESG Assessment projects.
  • Supports efforts to deliver on solution and value selling supporting the Customer First strategy.
  • Works with other project development engineers on ESG Assessment activities, including inquiries, quotes, orders, and project implementation through to completion and invoicing. 
  • Contacts field sales force and customers directly concerning inquiries, technical information,  and other issues needing clarification on assessment or survey reports.
  • Provide inside sales, engineering and project management technical support to sales personnel in order to help sales personnel maximize the time they spend directly with customers.
  • Prepares and distributes various reports, customer spreadsheets and correspondence.  Interfaces with the ESG Service Coordinator regarding developing and maintaining categorizing systems to meet ESG needs.
  • Compilation, transmittal, and recording of all forms of documentation pertaining to an opportunity and in logging all relevant data into SFDC while following standard work process using all available tools including reviewing sales personnel email. 
  • Maintains a motivating environment for safety and health compliance. 
  • Responsible to ensure company safety, security, and environmental policies are being followed. 
  • Must be willing to travel with up to 60% of the time in customer locations.

III. Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field plus three (3) years industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building management integration and control systems, experience developing project specifications and experience creating and selling customer energy and optimization solutions.
  • Complete understanding of steam system, steam and condensate optimization programs and the range of Spirax Sarco CVP’s.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including spreadsheets, building management and/or modeling software, DOE Steam Tools, word processing and presentations.
  • Certified Energy Manager(CEM®) required, Certified Energy Auditor (preferred).
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and be able to operate motor vehicle.
